Random poem - created from writing prompts

So, today I decided randomly to attempt a poem via the daily writing prompts I get in my email each day. I'm not a poet, by any means....so take this from a non-poet.

Falling off the edge
It happens in slow motion and hit the bottom with grace
Assessing the damage where battle scars are minimal
It could have been much worse
Lost a piece of me making me feel naked
It’s painfully obvious and I’m still a beautiful shade of red
Falling off the edge, but living to tell the tale.

Who knew I could get so deep about a red chipped bowl? Thanks, Writing Prompts. And on that note, I'm off to write for the evening and do homework.

Writing Therapy for the day

Ahhh! Sorry…I felt like I needed to scream a little bit. I haven’t been online as much as I would have liked lately, mostly because of being sick. I seem to have gotten that weird cold that everyone is talking about and seems to be catching. On top of that, the weather changes we are having as of late aren’t helping…making the allergy and sinus issues exponentially worse. I have this awful cough that just won’t go away. And I’m tired. So tired. I feel like I will be catching up on sleep forever. I wish I wasn’t tired all the time. I can only imagine all the stuff I could accomplish if I didn’t have to sleep. Anyway, this week I start my first challenge for BIW. I think this is probably the most fun and creative item on my to-do list for this week besides mocking out some Christmas ornaments to sell at the holiday craft fairs coming up. My goal is to finish 10 full pages of writing. I hope that I can finish my first goal…and surpass it. I think challenges like this will be exactly what I need to light a fire under me to work towards that novel or two that I’ve always wanted to write. Plus, I think it’s great practice for NaNoWriMo. I’ve even convinced the husband to join me this year.  He has already been researching on how to publish e-books. He is so adorable sometimes. : P Anyway, I just wanted to check in and I hope to have more to write about tomorrow. For now, signing off and thanks for listening to my babble for the evening.

First Week of Classes

I'm very glad it is the weekend and that it's a three day weekend at that. I value my weekends because they go by so quickly. This week has been a bit strange and stressful and I hope that things calm down next week. Here are some things that happened over the past week:

1. It was the first week of classes. It seemed like there was a lot of tension and stress going on...more than usual during opening week. There must be something in the water. Plus, things that are usually very easy to take care of seem to take extra time and effort than normal. I was hoping to start the semester out not stressed.

2. I almost took down the entire IT network at work while working on a task. It was sad, yet kind of awesome. Who has the power? Apparently I do! hahah, just kidding.

3. I have had the worst cold/allergy combo I've experienced in a while. I hate feeling like this and would prefer to never have to deal with allergies again. Being stressed and sick during opening week sucks. I hope to recover so I don't have huge coughing fits for the rest of the weekend.

4. So I started my online class...one of the first tasks was doing an online presentation about me. I hate talking about me and when it is required to have a voice over portion while sick, I was not thrilled about this. I stayed up until about 1 a.m. working on it...I'm just hoping I didn't sound like a complete idiot.

5. I've seen my youngest brother, Kevin, more times this week than I have in the past two years. He has been using my desk area at work as a private closet for his instruments and such while he is on campus. I'm happy to see him....and yet I wonder how many times this kid is going to ask me to buy him things while he is on campus. : /

The highlights of the weekend so far:

- I get to spend time with my little boy.  I hope I can get him to work with me on potty training a little bit this weekend. We'll see how that goes.

- I got accepted into Book-In-A-Week as a new member. That means I am getting myself in gear....and I will write.  I'm excited and scared at the same time and I look forward to what is ahead.

That's all for now. : )

Breaking the blogging/writing cherry...

So here goes nothing!

I've decided to start writing as a form of self-help therapy. With so many ideas and thoughts running through my head, I might be able to sleep a bit better at night.

I hope to write a little bit each day, if time allows, so have some patience with me if I'm a little slow at first.  : )

Some things going on in life as of late: My little man turned 3 yesterday...I cannot believe how quickly time has passed. It seems like yesterday I was pregnant with him. He is growing to be quite the adorable and smart little kid. Words do not express how much I love him.

School started again. I decided to take an online class on web content management. This should be interesting. I hope I do well, because I need a bit of change. I'd like to get into the Info Technology (or anything computer related) field. Hubby is also trying to register for the course and I think it'll be a cool bonding thing taking the same class.

In addition to school, I'm looking into trying out some virtual assistant work. If anyone knows of work that I can do for a couple hours during the night or for a few hours during the day on the weekends, let me know. Preferably with no phone/web cam activity. Working with MS Suite, data entry and transcription work is ideal.

Next big adventure: Going to NY Comic Con in October. Pretty excited about that. Hubby wants me to dress up and I'm still not 100% sold on the idea. I'm hoping at least one or two of my favorite authors decide to go there. Right now, I'm most looking forward to seeing John Barrowman, William Shatner and Andrew McCarthy (not necessarily in that order).

Anyway, that's what's up now.
